New Commanding Officer For 6th Imperial Marine Corps

New Rifle Issued to Solomani Infantry

The 10th Naval District announced that newly promoted Lt. General Viktor Androchev has been assigned to the 6th Imperial Marine Corps as its new commanding officer.

Gen. Androchev gained a certain amount of notoriety with Le Mercenaire during his years as a member of the Mercenary's Guild. Prior to this Gen. Androchev had spent his military career as an NCO. He gained recent media attention when he was assigned to the 4417th marine division as its second in command. It was rumored that he was to assume command of the division when its current commander retired. Shortly after his arrival on Regina he was appointed Military Governor when Field Marshall John Collingwood died from a gunshot wound. It is unclear why Gen. Androchev was suddenly reassigned to command the 6th corps.

In his early military career Gen. Androchev was awarded two MCUF's, two MCG's and two Purple Hearts. General Androchev had also received 11 Combat Service Ribbons and the Pikhan Supreme and Ultimate Medal of Thanks. Although the general was unavailable for comment, our staff has determined that his new post is in an unannounced system in the Gvurrdon sector

A new rifle has been issued to the Solomani armed forces infantry. Our sources tell us that this new gauss rifle will replace the familiar flechette rifle the Solomani army has relied on for many years. Although the new weapon weighs nearly the same it is unknown if the firing specs are similar enough for easy transition by the infantrymen. Our reporters got their first glimpse of the new rifle while at Military Technologies test range. It seems that local mercenary Nicolai Volkov was sighting in his new weapon. The version being sighted in by Mr. Volkov was an odd configuration with an unusual grenade launcher mounted on top of the gauss rifle. Volkov is rumored to be a member of one of the highly trained elite teams of the Solomani army. The new weapon apparently is able to use both the Solomani and Imperial versions of gauss rifle magazines. Unfortunately our reporters were not able to get a close up of the weapon. They did however report that the grenade launcher seemed capable of "smart" ammo technology. The weapon does have an extremely high rate of fire. Actual rounds per minute or muzzle velocity was not determined by our team though. The weapon's sleek matte black finish and obvious Rim styling made a stark, and somewhat envious impression on our team.
